K Peter Turnquest173x173The Hon. K. Peter Turnquest, M.P. Member of Parliament, East Grand Bahama Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.

The Hon. K. Peter Turnquest was born in the Bahamas and earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Prairie View A & M University, and his MBA from Nova Southeastern University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and has been in public and private practice for over 30 years in the area of financial accounting and reporting, audit, corporate services, mergers & acquisitions, receiverships and liquidations. Mr. Turnquest has had wide business experience having led international sales and manufacturing operations in several countries.

Keynote Speaker - Rt. Honourable David Lammy, MP for Tottenham, British Parliament

David LammyThe Rt. Honourable David Lammy, MP has been the Member of Parliament for his home constituency of Tottenham, since 2000, and in the 2017 General Election he was re-elected for the sixth time with 82% of the vote.

David was born in Tottenham in 1972, one of five children raised by a single mother. He was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1994 and practised as a barrister in England the United States of America. He was the first black Briton to study a Masters in Law at the Harvard Law School, graduating in 1997.

Motivational Address - Leighton McKnight, Territory Leader, PwC Jamaica

Leighton McKnightLeighton McKnight is the territory leader and markets leader for PwC Jamaica and regional leader for the consumer and industrial products and services (CIPS) industry sector for member firms of PwC in the Caribbean. He also serves on the regional executive leadership team.

He has extensive experience delivering services, including audit and assurance, to large and multinational clients across a spectrum of industries including financial services, public sector and retail.

Conference Speaker - Ramesh Dookhoo, President of the Caribbean Association of Industry and Commerce

Ramesh Dookhoo Ramesh Dookhoo is a former President of the Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association Ltd and former Chairman of the Private Sector Commission. He is Vice Chair of the Board of Governors of the Institute of Internal Auditors of Guyana. He continue to serve on the Board and Council of these two Business organizations at the behest of Banks DIH Ltd his employers.

Mr. Dookhoo is the current President of the Caribbean Association of Industry and Commerce and a member of the Caribbean Court of Justice Trust Fund Board of Trustees.

Conference Speaker - Doug Williamson, Regional Chief Financial Officer, CIBC FCIB

D willamsDoug Williamson is chief financial officer of CIBC FirstCaribbean. He is responsible for financial oversight, as well as reporting and planning for all legal entities within the group. 

In addition, he is accountable for the treasury department, specifically for matters related to the composition and usage of the balance sheet resources.  Previously, Mr. Williamson was vice-president, infrastructure chief financial officer and finance shared services of CIBC, where he provided financial leadership and strategic advice to all non-revenue groups, including technology and operations, administration, risk management, and finance. 

Mr. Williamson was also responsible for enterprise management reporting, general accounting & allocations, and project finance centers of excellence.  Prior to joining CIBC in 2012, Mr. Williamson worked at Bank of Montreal for more than 10 years in a variety of roles across finance, technology, and wealth management.

She began her international career as an associate at JP Morgan in New York City and Geneva, Switzerland where she worked as a business analyst in the investment and private banking divisions.

Jim has over 40 years of Financial Management experience including holding the positions of CFO and Controller. He has a wide background in various industries including Telecom, Semiconductors, Consumer Products, Manufacturing, Import/Export, Ethical Pharmaceuticals and Electronics. Jim has been in the seats of IBM’s customers and prospects and adds valuable insight to best practices and successful processes to aid in the design and implementation/integration of IBM solutions.

Conference Speaker - Tanya McCartney, CEO, Bahamas Financial Services Board

TanyaTanya McCartney was appointed CEO of the Bahamas Financial Services Board in December 2015. She is a UK trained barrister and chartered banker. Her professional career began in 1997 as Assistant Counsel in The Office of the Attorney General. Since 1999 she has held senior positions in financial services.

Tanya holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Reading (United Kingdom), A Master of Laws degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science (London, U.K.), an MBA in Leadership from The College of the Bahamas as well as a Chartered Banker MBA from the University of Bangor in Wales (United Kingdom). She is a member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn.

Tanya currently serves as CEO and Executive Director of The Bahamas Financial Services Board.
